About Our Cohort
Our cohort is comprised of creative Black (Afro-descendant) teaching artists, arts educators, thinkers, philosophers, innovators, and much more. We accept those who are currently educators in the arts and who also identify as Black. We accept all artistic and non-conforming art forms. Artistic backgrounds can range from theater, spoken word, energy healing, poetry, yoga and gardening. Members of the BTAL Cohort will gain access to the following opportunities
-

BK King
Brittany King (BK) is a poet, playwright, actor, and cultural organizer from South Florida. As an abolitionist and Black feminist, BK utilizes her love of film, digital video, music, photography, and theatre to ignite our radical imaginations.
-

Treva Nevis
I have danced my whole life (Afro-Modern/Afro-Haitian). I also write poetry. Dance is my sanctuary; that place I go to for emotional and spiritual expression and release.
-
Dashaun Hightower
I am a reader. I love research. The older the book the better for me. This research has influenced my work and made the stories I tell more meaningful.
