Pan-African Cultural Exchange

We provide teaching artists, who identify as Black and are trained in the Afrocentric Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) framework, with opportunities to travel to different parts of the African Diaspora, in order to better understand the Black experience globally.

The traveling teaching artists will be required to conduct Afrocentric SEL workshops, share the Afrocentric SEL framework with the respective host community, participate in cultural excursions, and aim to learn more about the culture and traditions of the host community. We are currently collecting data on Black Teaching Artists. If you are a Black Teaching artists, please fill out this survey

Founder, Melissa Parke

“There is an immediate need for us to better understand our Black-identifying teaching artists, so that we can better support them in teaching our Black-identifying youth. With the launch of Zora’s Legacy, we are hoping to better understand our Black-identifying TAs. And in the process, we would like to evaluate the effectiveness of the Afrocentric Social-Emotional Learning framework in meeting their needs.”
